WAITOC is pleased to welcome and announce today the commencement of the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to assist the organisation in an exciting new way forward for the Indigenous tourism industry in Western Australia.
Mr Johnny Edmonds is the Managing Director of Irimana Enterprises Ltd and has consulted to a range of Indigenous client organisations in New Zealand. Mr Edmonds has also previously undertaken the role of CEO to the New Zealand Maori Tourism Council.
“The Board is looking forward to working with Mr Edmonds in what is going to be an exciting journey forward for the Indigenous tourism industry in Western Australia” Mr Neville Poelina, Chair of WAITOC stated. “The recent marketing agreement between WAITOC and Tourism WA, with the support of the Royalties for Regions program, will enable us to move the industry forward and ensure that Western Australia will be the premier destination for authentic Indigenous tourism experiences.”
Mr Poelina and the Board thanked outgoing CEO Ms Angelique Fransen for her dedication and passion to the organisation for the past ten years.
Mr Edmonds commences in this role today and will be based in Perth.
